Saddam was supposed to be on Flight 11 but his cab was late to Logan Airport.

The problem is they're going to vote republican, a LOT of people are.

The fact that McCain is just foaming at the bit to be president no matter what it takes, says a lot. This is his last chance, and the republican do not want to lose of course, and they somehow, SOMEHOW haven't lost as much ground as it seems they should have.

Just, praying that more horrible things come out before October so McCain/Palin get pulled down.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can make it to November without either shunning all technology or curling up into the fetal position until then?

I'm not entirely kidding. It just seems like caring at all about the future of this country just makes me feel miserable and terrified.

Video games can be impressive time sinks - ( I'm partial to Kingdom of Loathing, but there are many, many others.) Mostly I'd just suggest taking a cue from the Hitchhiker's Guide and Don't Panic. There are a lot of people in the business of making noise-making as much noise as possible, but will that be enough to overcome McPalin's many objective obstacles(a fringy platform, the ticket's advisers, a not-even-trying-anymore approach to lying, and a seriously unhappy electorate)? It's not impossible, but then I tend to take the view that while very little is impossible, there is a great deal that is unlikely.

Maybe the public will pull a Weeble on us - for example, I also would have thought that lending staggering sums of money with no regard to borrowers' ability to repay it sounded rather foolish - but there's no point in getting worked up prematurely.

Thank you both. Sorry if that seemed a bit overdramatic; concern about the state of the world and very little tolerance for conflict are not a good combination and it makes me go a smidge crazy every two to four years. I do enjoy a pretty good relationship with movies (though I tend t watch them on the TV machine as the screen is bigger and the seating more comfortable) and I have what could be considered an unhealthy relationship with video games. I have plans to get "Spore" in the near future and I suspect that will be very helpful in distracting me from more pressing concerns.

There are a lot of people in this country that don't care about this country, they only care about their side winning. These people are currently hopped up on the McKoolaid and becoming a fan of Sara Palin on Facebook and other places.

Ever since the result of the '04 election I've just about given up on any positive thoughts and feelings about this country. How so many of my fellow citizens be so,.. well so DAMN STUPID when all of the evidence is right in front of them...... I can't understand.

Each day we learn more and more of the outright lies by this administration, the near total disregard of our constitution, all of the inept and deplorable decisions that have been made, and I still read how like lemmings to the sea, so many are ready to vote a four year continuation of this....

It angers me,
Saddens me,
Frustrates me
and makes me seriously doubt the future of America.
